I’ve had the honor of being given a 1988 Harris Matchless G80. It’s a nice enough ‘modern classic’ but I’m not 100% convinced by the styling. Seeing as it’s a bit of a ‘parts bin special’, I was wondering what it would look like if I ‘retired’ a few parts and replaced them with something a little more racy. The plan would be to do it in a non-destructive way so I can quickly revert to original should the need arise.
Currently looks like this…
Here’s a 20 minute Photoshop bodge to see what a Cafe Racer seat and some clip-on handle bars would do to the looks.
Original (image nabbed from here as it’s nicer than mine)…
Cafe Racer edition…
Question is… am I barking?

STOP PRESS: Martin ups the ante. Shorter seat and lower headlight.
STOP PRESS: Then I go silly. New tank and exhaust
